this is the one about how I lost this Jefferies Gig. It's fun, read this one you'll love it.
So...
I guess I have to talk about how I got laid off last friday.
I got a call from my moms who told me my agency called and said that it was urgent. Next thing I know Kim is talking to me asking me "What happened?" and I'm like "I don't know" "Well they're saying that they're going to have to let you go." I'm sitting up on my bed like...
"Listen Kim, Can we fight this?!" and she responded, "Not only can you not fight it, you can't try to reach out or get in contact with anyone from this company or else you'll be in jeopardy of possibly being hired at other companies. Trust me, You don't want to go against this monster."
At that point I felt powerless.
But in that moment I found comfort in the thought of me not needing to ever walk in that building again.
I'll be honest after John left and the new Boss came, it stopped being fun and started feeling like an actual job. The reality check cashed in. And I didn't want that. The people and the money were pretty much the only thing that kept me going to work everyday. I'm still surprised I got paid as much to do the shit that I did. It's peanuts compared to some of the Elephants in there but still, with only a high school diploma. Sheesh. I got away with Murder.
My co-workers were dope. The peeps at Jefferies were 50/50 but for the most part the people I associated with were cool.
To top that off, It was a wild week. Such everyone got let go. People who had been there for like 10 years. I couldn't believe I had to pack most of their shit. It was something to witness. And then it happened to me and I was like "Damn".
I didn't exactly take Kim's advice, I called my ex co-worker Felix about 5 minutes after she told me not to and thanked him for everything he'd done for me. He's really a good dude and treated me with respect within my stay @ JefCo. He showed me the ropes and taught me a lot work related and unrelated as well.
It was a fun ride though. I loved it while it was it was poppin' (Nov '06-July '08) . I got to work 10-20 minutes late "almost" everyday. Damn, I know I'll never have a job like that again.
Yesterday Kim broke it down to me point blank. They paid R.J.L too much money and it was eating into the facilities budget. Basically I made too much So they had to cut me out of the equasion. Fine.
I got a call from everybody in the mailroom. Jermaine, Rob, and Mona all called to bid me a farewell and Rob seemed really mad ( "these fuckboys don't know what they're doing over here"). Me and Jermaine had our riffs in the beginning, but over the course of 2 years i've grown to respect his leadership qualities more and more as the days pass.
I wish he would think certain things out more thoroughly, like how to relate to women and not scam as much. But there will be a day when he grows out It I guess. And the more things change the more the stay the same.
Rob, that's an extraordinary and cool brother. Even if he openly states how he would bone each and every women that walked up to the mailroom window, raw, with no protection, and "____ all inside that ___". On some Foxy Brown Ill Na Na stuff. And he won't deny he's said this and he'll tell you the same thing to your face.True Definition of a Hustler. As far as DVDs, whatever you want Rob got it. Whether it's a Dora The Explorer Book for your kids or a Porno Flicks "for a friend". He's got it.
And Mona was a fighter who always had to get the last word in and the work done the way it was supposed to be. Very Text Book like. But we love her all the same.
I recently heard she lost her job too. Which is crazy to me, because she's 66 years old. But I guess even the elderly can get it. I'm worried for her more than ever but I know she'll be alright and such. Like my homegirl Cha said, she's a trooper.
So now I'm trying to find new jobs and it's kinda a pain in the ass. Lots of companies are going through a hiring freeze. They ain't looking for nobody.
But Kim got my back and she's looking for something new for me. Meanwhile I'll be getting unemployment dollars for a few weeks. Which means I can still do my concert hopping while waiting for a new employer.
In the meantime, I've decided to help my homegirl Boyuan Gao out with her Clothing and Food Drive Initiative. She's starting a non-profit organization called ARISE Collective and she's looking for people to donate canned goods and Winter Coats to families that need them in Brooklyn's Bedford-Stuyvesant community.
I've already talked to some restaurants/eateries around my area of Crown Heights.
Plus we're trying to fundraise money to rent the Church on Malcolm X BLVD to hold this event. Try doing that while the economy is in the shithole. It's hard.
So it's keeping me busy. More plans are in order.
Shout Out to NOTHING IMPOSSIBLE, Absolute Truth, and @ The Meth::Lab.
Shout Out to Divine Bradley, I just saw him speak about Team Revolution and his newest adventure the "Pave Your Lane Tour" to some City College students and such. He's still the same motivational thinker that he was when we met 8 years ago. I love that dude man, with all my heart. One of the dopest brothers to ever walk the stars.
Shout Out to Deandra Henderson and De'Asia Devyne.
Shout Out to TV/TV: Congrats on The Warped Tour Skull Candy Stage Spot. Them kids still ain't ready. Highline Ballroom January 15th, 2009. We're in there.
As for me, I'm doing well. And to be honest, even with Jefferies getting dropped I'm still doing well. Atleast I don't have to wake up early tomorrow for some shit I don't even wanna do.
Of course there are times when it's like *dead* and I feel like I'm not doing enough.
But overall I'm still eating, I'm still (kinda) healthy, all my limbs are in place, and I'm still with a roof over my head. So don't worry, y'all Warren's gonna be alright.
I'm STILL STANDING!
I'M STILL STRONG!!!!

| So I recieved a text message from Andrew Vanette formerly of the band TV/TV, and it read
"Hey im not sure if i told u but my new band is playing tomorrow at the mercury lounge at 7:30. It would be really awesome if u could come. I think ur gonna really gonna like it"
And I always wanted to check these dudes out anyways. Andrew being in the group is a big plus. So I decided to head down to the Mercury Lounge and check these kids live show out, finally...
Might I say this band is incredible. So incredible. Listening to them is like getting a massage from Halle Berry
They started of their set with "Cat and Mouse", and then lit up the sky with "A Mermaid Song".
Like a shot to the temple they blasted full throttle through "Dirt In The Ground".
They also did a few new songs one of them being "Perfect Crime" which was dynamite.
They closed the show leaving Food for Thought with "Daily Spoon".
My only personal down side is that they didn't play "O Little Engine" but they've probably played that song to death already. It's my personal favorite song in their whole collection
There's just something about that dude Keith Madden's voice. He pours calm vocal patterns that rush out smoothly against rhythms and stick to your skin, all within a matter of minutes.
And A Million Years has a distinctive classic sound. They should be on top of the fucking world right now. But I guess good things come to those who wait. I have faith.
But the music, it's just that good...

Or
www.myspace.com/amillionyearsmusic
Shout Out to Francios, and Josh of TV/TV who were there to support A Million Years in there Journey. Oh you didn't know? They're BFFs and such haha.
And Shout Out to Andrew Vanette of A Million Years. I'm glad you're happy bro, and that show last night really left a smile on my face. Keep banging the Ill Beats man. And I'll see you at the top brother.
I don't even care what you think as long as it's about them.
Peace.

So last night was the Red Bull Big Tune Battle.
What's that? Well...
Red Bull gathers about 10 or so of the hottest up and coming producers in that are "not" in the game and so to say currently seeking "employment".
The winner of the contest wins the opportunity of choosing whether he wants The Game, Common, or two other Emcees/Rappers that I didn't catch the name of to rock on.
That's pretty a pretty dope prize.
But there were some pretty good beats flying through the sky fam. BASS Heavy, Earthquaking, Room Shaking Production by newest beatsmiths on the block like Algorhythm, Rob Banes, Best Kept Secret, Dibiase, Hitmakerz and a grip of other dope kids.
But yo, they even had some ringers up in the spot man.
They had Illmind who's already produced for mad heads in the industry already. They had this cat Rich who freakin' produced one of my favorite songs this year...The Roots "Get Busy".
But it was good cause the new cats stayed focused and up to the challenge. It was dope.
It came down to this kid Duke and this kid from Chicago C Sic
And guess who won?
C Sick
Is it me? Or is Chicago is having like the longest winning streak ever man? (Joanne you gotta get your demo out or something)
But word em up, I personally would've put it up against him with Hitmakerz, but never the less the beats were still ridic
Top it off by some vicious performances from The Alchemist, The 30's The New 20 looking Digable Planets. Seriously? Man, they looked healthy man. Extremely too healthy for a group that had only one hit from like '93.
Somebody get Kanye on the phone and tell him to hook these cats up like he did Common. They can be saved. Or can they really be eating still today off of "Rebirth Of Slick?" I don't have the answer.
And your boy Ghost? What more can I say? Second time seeing him live. He's a Ruthless Animal. And you know Ghost got joints for decades and such but he only it felt like he only got to rock for a few minutes. He got in a lot of classic Wu-Tang joints in.
And that's another thing about Ghost man, he don't just be like "Oh let's do this single, let's do that single" He does anything you want to hear. It could be off of Enter 36, Cuban Linx, Fishscale, Pretty Toney, Bulletproof Wallets it doesn't matter. He does it all.
The mandatory ODB "Shimmy Shimmy Ya" was in effect, plus Ghost signed autographs of CD Covers for fans in the middle of his set. What a dude.
Oh...and cats was definitely in the house like a mofo. Skyzoo was in attendance as well as Mickey Factz, Chip-Fu from the Fu Shnickens, Ali Shaheed-Mohammed, Crazy Legs from The Rock Steady Crew, Homeboy Sandman's Fresh Daly of A-OK, Yak Ballz, Kosha Dillz and I know more heads was in there as well.
I got a chance to catch Ghost outside of the Western Beef after the show, gave him a dap and told him "Much Respect Ghost, keep doing ya thing man" and he told me "Good Looks God" and I bounced.
Man this is the first time I've even heard about this Red Bull Producers tournament. It's an Ill concept. Next Year I'mma sign DJ Zay up or something hahaha.
Yo shout out to Natty S. for putting me on to it, I hope you feel better girl. Stay up and I hope to see you at the next show. And Shout Out to the her Big Bro-ski Mr. URL_REMOVED aka Donavan.
This dude is always on top of things Hip Hop and if you haven't check his youtube page, you should try it out. Word.
Shout Out to EvBoogie, Yak Ballz, and Kosha and the kid from Japan who copped me a beer for nothing. I ended up giving that Heineken to somebody else, but it was a nice gesture. Dopeness.
That's it, That's all, solo, single, no more, no less.

A Thanksgiving Weekend To remember! Dope!
So this year I spent Thanksgiving over at my Cousin Cedric's spot. Which is so plush in Bed-Stuy. We got all my father's side of the immediate fam together and ate some of my cousin's good cookin'. Can I say I thought it was so good that I didn't believe he cooled it? Nah Right? Oh okay but yeah it was a nice long day of Food, Football, and Fun. Somehow we all ended up watching youtube videos of people falling off of tables and my Cousin Mike's Comedy skits on VH1 and other shows.
We all took a plate (two for me) some food home and that was that. Yeah man it was nice little Thanksgiving. And the best part is, I didn't throw up this year. Perfect.
So I figure I'll be switching back and fourth Mom & Dad year by year for the rest of my life.
Yeah my situation growing up was whack but atleast I'm not that messed up where I lost contact with either side. Sometimes it really just is what it is.
11/28 Friday:
I went to F'N work. It was a total waste of 4 hours of my life. After work I went home and what do see? My Cousin Fred walking to the corner store in a Bubble Down Goose...
And Shorts. In 40 Fucking Degree weather.
And I told him to "Come over here" and he knew what was up. I barked on him. Out in the Street.
I was having a whack day. But come on man. People usually stop wearing shorts after Labor Day. It's Fall going into Winter. Somebody hasn't slapped him by now? We got into anargument in the street and I went upstairs.
I hung out with Ashley as she went to this new clothing in-store Downtown Brooklyn she went shopping and took me out to dinner at Dallas BBQs where some little kid runs up and just slaps me on my back!
I turn to see where he's running and then I see my Little Sister, with my little cousins Amir & Hanif and my Dad in another booth. Random. But they all looked like they were having a good time.
I had some sort of OBAMA Victory beverage they were serving and it was pretty good. I hope it stays on the Menu for the next four, maybe eight years. After that we all went home.
Yeah so it was a whack day but cool night.
Saturday 11/29:
Saturday Evening I made plans to meet up with my homegirl J-Murdah aka Jenni Melear and Ran Dogg Slang Words aka Big Daddy Ran aka Randy Silang. Ourselves along with Kathleen Kennedy and Ash Bunny went to the Village in search of some good Indian food.
And there were plenty of options...
But we talked about a few things. How much we've developed in a year's span, Obama's Campaign, why I should go back to school, Florida.
"Buenos Ahora" or however you say "Good Times" En Espanol.
I was very impressed that Randy and Jenni decided to work for the Obama Campaign in Florida and pretty much gave up their lives for a good amount of months for a worthy cause.
I know they've had their ups and downs as almost any relationship does. But I have a feeling they'll be able to break free and live strong as time passes. I wish them both the best of luck.
And it's always nice to see Kathleen. Kathleen we love you!
After dinner we went to Greenpoint, Brooklyn to go see the homie Livewire perform. Of course I saw the Team Rev O.G heads Divine & Joey. But I didn't expect to see Kazi there! Damn it's been a few years since I've seen this last dude. (Well since the BKHHF, but since I actually spoke to him). He was like staring at me while I was reciting all of Mos Def's verse from "Oh No" and he's like "He's Saying Every Word" and I'm like "Oh Snap". Man it was so good to see that short brother again haha.
Anyways...
Don't ask Ashley what she thought of the show. But Livewire and Crise P did their thang to packed Production Lounge crowd. It did get hectic though. Some little girls were out freakin on the stage and I think Live didn't want them to be dancin the way they were dancing on 21 and older cats so they asked the girls to leave. And then a whole group of people left, but the show still went strong and Live did his thing.
Show out to the homie Livewire. Looking Heavy in the streets nowadays man. Keep up. I remember when Live,Verse, Divine and Myself were doing the Christmas Benefit show in '03 Wrapping presents for disadvantages kids and such. I still have the video from when we made it on UPN9 News that night (Only because Alicia Keys was supposed to show up). And look at Live now. Still doing his thing.
You've gotta be crazy to be a rapper nowadays, but you know they say a Genius isn't far from insane. Anyways...
Sunday 11/30:
I wanted the Giants to beat the Redskins so bad so Noel could shut his mouth And they did exactly what I wanted them to do. Plexico Burress is an idiot and that's all I have to say about this fool shooting himself in the leg.
JEAN GRAE SHOULD GO LATERLL SPREWELL ON STEPHON MARBURY.
Ash Bunny told me about a show Jean Grae was having @ The Highline Ballroom and I pretty much had nothing to do on a Sunday Night...Why Not?
Doors opened at 8:00pm.The Show was supposed to start at like 9:00pm. It finally got off at like 10:00pm with Derron Maxwell performing with a live band. Alright he was good, but let's skip all that and get to main event...
Jean Grae holds the microphone and sits in the corner of the stage spouting out random words while Mr. Len is spinning records. She's hilarious.
She's talking about how there were only 5 people in the spot she was performing at. And how this is what she's built a Career in rap for "5 Mutha Fuckaz". She said it's looking like NYorican up in here LMAO.
But she bared with the 35 or so of us that were in Highline that night and put on a great, very funny, entertaining show.
She did a wholegrip of new music, and it was very dance orientated. Seems like she'll be partying more in club nowadays. But Yo she's still one of the Illest MCs PERIOD.
A few people really knew the lyrics for real. And Jean even forgot some of her verses, with the stand right next to her holding the lyrics. She told us ahead of time though that she didn't remember stuff.
Illest part for me was when Jean Grae was looking for some "Background Dancers" and she was like "you get up on the stage" and I was like "Me? Okay" and I hopped up on stage along with two other folks. She made sure we understood how to 2-Step as soon as the DJ dropped the beat to "Don't Rush Me" everything hit us like "OOOOOOOOOOH, Doctor!" as we all glided from left to right with the bright lights blinding our eye sight reaching the heights of kytes.
On stage with the legendary What? What? Never thought I'd do that. Two Steppin my ass off son. And I don't even Two-Step.
But for the love of Jean, I Two-Stepped up to the Plate.
Then we danced ourselves into her Smash Single off her album JEANIUS "Love Thirst" and it was just that night fam.
I was listening to "Don't Rush Me" earlier today and just remembering the moment when Jean was dancing with us on stage and said "...I'm A Team Player, NOT, the dry whit is similar to Arizona weather say it n****..." and looking at the crowd when we all screamed "HOT!", It was so dope.
And her looking into my face as she rocked back and fourth. Love.
And just when I thought this can't get any better, BKMC Talib Kweli pops up and nobody applauses or go. Which was shocking to me because nobody knew the status of Jean and Talib's Relationship. But they're doing just fine. They performed "Black Girl Lost" off Kweli's BEAUTIFUL STRUGGLE album and they performed "Say Something" off of Kweli's EARDRUM album. The people just got so amped!
Afterwards she invited (see also: forced) her mother who used to sing back up for Duke Ellington to the stage. And her mother performed an Original piece.
I also got to meet Talib for like the fifth time again. He's just an all around nice dude when he can be. And I had a slammin' ass Sunday Night. And to think I was gonna stay @ home. (Crowd Boos: Booooooooo!)
Monday 12/1: And Monday you know...Calvin's show
Tuesday 12/2:
NBA 2k9 Bounce Tour live @ The Highline Ballroom
WatchingThe Cool Kids was aight. I'm not sure about the super lyrical factor (or lack there of because raps about bikes and sneakers caught on so quickly) but they did what they had to do and had the crowd rockin' with them. Give respect where respect is due.
Starting out his set with DJ Scratch telling us to put one finger in the air for Dilla.
Q-Tip flash gordon'd that ass out on stage and was on Fire from Beginning to ending, Reinventing the definition of Life with every sentence. He put the city on his shoulders for one amazing night as the king took us "Higher" with "Let's Ride", and a GRIP of new material off of his Masterpiece album and First official record in 9 years (Not counting the Kamal project) THE RENAISSANCE (go cop it right now please he's on a major record label.) He did his joint "Johnny Is Dead", "Gettin' Up" was also on the plate along with the song he dedicated to everybody in the room "Y.O.U", "We Fight/We Love" and he even brought Amanda Diva in the house for "Manwomanboogie" and ended the show with "Life Is Better". Plus he did the tribe classics son! So this is where I phuks up kid. Dangerous. He starts off "Check The Rhime" then he does the thing where he asks the crowd yo |ho knows Phife Dawg's part?" and me knowing I don't know Phife's part" I go "I do..." and raise my dumb ass hand. He calls me up and Tip is on the stage and I'm on the floor, he brings the mic down to me and I take the mic and start off "Now here's a funky introduction of how nice I am, tell your mother, tell your brother, tell a telegram?"
What the fuck? y'all know Phife don't say tell your mother, tell your brother, tell a telegram, it's "tell your mother, tell your father, send a telegram"
But I hear a whole bunch of "Oooooohs" though then I get excited... But I continue to flutter "I'm like the energizer bunny see I last long..."
...and then I fucked up and just start grunting and made Tip pass the mic to someone else who finished the Phife Dawg rhyme just in time. But you know what it was fun though, regardless of me messing up or not.
He did more classics and stuff "Electric Relaxation", a "Verse From The Abstract", "Sucka N*gg*", made us wild out with "Oh My God" and what would a Q-Tip show be without "Scenario". He semi-closed the show with "Bonita Applebum" and yo complete random shit...
Mos Def pops up through the crowd and is dancing right next to me and shit I'm like "Fuckin' Mos" and he's got his trench coat and his hat on and he's just dancing in the crowd with us. It was so dope, this cat is so down to earth I'm starting to get nervous for him. But Mos is alright people. Don't worry.
Yeah it was an amazing night indeed. I loved every moment of it. Even the part where I messed up the verse, so what?
But yeah, after the show I finally got www.phalarysofresh.com a shout out from a Hip Hop Artist so she can stop calling me a "punk bitch" for messing up the Mos Def thing in March.
I got it from Pharoahe Monch of Organized Kon... ahh just Pharoahe Monch and he was a real kind guy about it. Nice dude.
Yeah man for the sake of Sleep I'm ending this.
Anyways you won't read it, because my life sucks and I'm just drawing these pictures for the fuck of it. Shout out To Jean Grae, My Famaily, Q-Tip (sorry I messed up your classic "Check The Rhime", Ash Bunny, and Jessica Estevez, Hemz (who I need to see at shows more often lol) and Ilana, Pharoahe Monch, The Cool Kids.
Pacific Division sorry I missed your set, maybe if your name wasn't Pacific Division I would be able to catch it.
The Knux...Sorry dudes, my bad.
And I'm out!
Hasta La Vista Baby! | | |

Last Evening I went to The Color Fred at the Hawthorne Heights show, but he didn't show up. Bummer.
So I settled for seeing "just" Emery and Hawthorne Heights but I like Hawthorne Heights so it wasn't a complete bummer.
Emery were pretty good. First time experiencing their music. The keyboadist was like Swinging his Keyboard everywhere and stuff. Pretty awesome.
Hawthorne Heights did pretty well up there. But they were kinda rushed through their set, and it felt like it. There was a Jedi Mind Trick show immediately after the show @ 9:00pm.
Oh here was my beef. Besides The Color Fred not showing up. You really wanna start a show at 4:30pm in the afternoon? Really?
The homegirl Brittany came all the way from Conneticut to support her boys Tickle Me Pink. And stayed the whole day in NY by herself. I'm so proud. Even though she thought she was in Brooklyn for a second. I was like "Oh Lawd"
And I saw Wu-Tang Affiliate Sav Killz in front of Blender and the MC Preach bumping their CDs as usual. Not getting "raped" by the music industry. Such a delight.
Support Independent Artists Worldwide people.
And overall it was good to see HH back doing there thing. It was the 366th days since the passing of HH member Casey Calvert. Rest In Peace Casey man. Your boys are still knockin' it out daily fam, and representing your name to the fullest.
